Texas Backs the Travel Ban
Ren Powell
Trump has been in turmoil for a little while now about the travel ban he put out on seven countries from entering to the USA. Just recently, Texas has backed Trump's ban. The reason Texas would back this is because they are directly connected to Mexico and know first hand the illegal immigrant problem. The Trump administration has stated that the executive branch has legal authority to ban these seven Muslim-majority countries and the refugees from them. Most states are against the travel ban. For example, Washington and Minnesota convinced the 9th circuit to uphold the executive order of a courts ruling blocking the Trump ban all together.
Trump's travel ban is relevant to the project we are currently doing (making our own parties) because we are making the views and platforms of our parties. One of the topics we discussed was the travel ban and whether we thought that it was necessary, too harsh, or if we liked the idea.
My opinion on the travel ban: I feel that banning those countries would be very helpful to our problem dealing with Isis and other terrorist related issues because at this point we cannot let Isis members into our country. I feel some people do not take these terrorists organizations as seriously as they are and at least Trump is doing all he can and putting effort into the problem. It is just getting shutdown because these state members don't like him. I think the states should realize that there is a real problem on our hands and deal with it. Perhaps they can compromise with a partial ban.

CNN's Donald Trump Supreme Court Nominee Shortlist
President Trump has made a list of twenty-one possible picks to sit as justices on the Supreme Court. While many are pleased, some are outraged with the list. Why? There is one new name that would keep the majority of the Supreme Court Conservative. The new name is Neil Gorsuch-replacing former Justice Antonin Scalia. But critics are concerned about this appointment because, in the past, the expectations were not met. The person chosen to fill Scalia's position will hold a very powerful position.
This subject is relative to our class because of CNN-10 and it's a major decision that Trump, our recently elected President, has made as one of his first moves in office. This decision is a major, long-lasting one and nothing like a temporary ban on immigrants.
I have to agree with President Trump on his decision because Neil Gorsuch has similar views as mine. For example: he is against abortion, he supported term limits for Supreme Court justices, and he has stated that he is a man of his word. It will be interesting to see how
